Azobe
Azobe is a very large cylindrical tree that also goes by the names Bongossi and Ekki. Has light brown splinter, deep red/brownish core, knobby. Is difficult to process, very hard and strong against pressure and bending. It cannot be kiln-dried with difficulty and is only offered freshly sawn. Since the type of wood is very water resistant, it is often used outdoors. Suitable for terrace planks, harbor timber, lock gates, bridge decks, ramps, industrial floors, sleepers as well as for benches and furniture.
Azobe was previously used for all Danish ferry ports. Suitable for containers for chemicals, as Azobe is acid resistant.
