Mahogany, Khaya
African Mahogany has a narrow light to greyish-red splinter when it is freshly felled, glossy and quite pink core. Easy to tear and easy to dry. The processing results are good, and appear nice when plastered and glues well. Used as solid wood and veneer, also frequently and successfully in the furniture, joinery and equipment wood industry. Also in the boat industry. Khaya Mahogany is often used instead of the more expensive Honduras Mahogany.
